International Temples Project |
The International
Temples Project is the unfolding of a profound and compassionate
vision to build a Kadampa Buddhist Temple in every major city of the
world.
Building for world peace
Inspired by Venerable Geshe Kelsang, this
project is an extraordinary contribution to world peace. Kadampa Temples
are not regarded as ordinary |

but as holy objects that will be places of spiritual inspiration and
peace for many generations to come. As Geshe Kelsang says, "We
dedicate the creation of these Temples to world peace and to the happiness
of all living beings."
UK Temple
The first Kadampa Temple was built at Manjushri
Kadampa Meditation Centre in the Lake District. Due to its special
architecture, based on the mandala of Heruka, the Buddha of compassion,
it is a place of unusual beauty that has profound spiritual meaning.
American Temple
The second major Temple is in Glen Spey, New York, and is situated on 82 acres of beautiful wooded land near
the Upper Delaware River.
The Temple was consecrated by Geshe Kelsang in October 2006, following the US Fall Festival.
Canadian Temple
The Temple is now completed and is located in a beautiful residential area of Mississauga, Ontario.
Brazilian Temple
This is now nearly complete and plans are already being made for major events in 2007.
